Color steel plate waterproofing needs to be controlled from five core links: material selection, base treatment, waterproofing structure, construction technology, and post maintenance, forming a full process waterproofing system.
1、 Material selection
Prioritize the use of waterproof materials that are compatible with the characteristics of color steel plates to ensure compatibility and durability.
Core waterproof material: High elasticity and strong weather resistance butyl rubber waterproof tape or special waterproof coating for color steel plates are selected. These materials can adapt to the deformation caused by thermal expansion and contraction of color steel plates, avoiding cracking and leakage.
• Auxiliary materials: equipped with color steel plate special sealant, anti rust paint, sandpaper and cleaning tools. The sealant needs to match the waterproof main material material, and the anti rust paint is used to deal with the problem of metal substrate corrosion.
2、 Grassroots pre-treatment
Smooth and dry grassroots is the foundation of waterproofing, and hidden dangers need to be thoroughly removed.
1. Clean the surface: Use a high-pressure water gun or cloth to remove dust, oil stains, debris, and aging coatings from the surface of the color steel plate, ensuring that the waterproof main material can be tightly adhered.
2. Defect repair: Check whether the board is deformed or damaged, and fill the depressions with special putty to make them smooth; If there are rust spots, first use sandpaper to polish and remove rust, then apply anti rust paint, and wait for it to dry before carrying out waterproof construction.
3. Joint treatment: If there is looseness at the joint of the color steel plate, it is necessary to re fix the fasteners to ensure uniform joint gaps and prepare for subsequent sealing.
3、 Waterproof structure of key parts
Strengthen waterproof design for weak areas prone to leakage.
• Waterproofing of slab joints: at the transverse and longitudinal slab joints, first insert foam sealing strips to fill the gaps, then lay butyl rubber waterproof tape 5-10cm wide along the joints, with the edge of the tape 2-3 cm beyond the gap, and finally apply a layer of waterproof paint on the surface of the tape to form double protection.
Roof nodes: Roof ridges, gutters, drainage outlets, and other nodes are high-risk areas for leakage. Lay a dedicated roof waterproof cover plate at the ridge, with a minimum overlap width of 15 centimeters between the cover plate and the color steel plate, and seal the overlap with sealant; Waterproof rolls should be laid in the gutter, and the joints of the rolls should overlap by 5-8 centimeters and be hot-melt welded. Thick waterproof coating should be applied around the drainage outlet to ensure smooth drainage and no water accumulation.
Wall penetrating pipes and fasteners: Fill the gaps around the wall penetrating pipes with sealant, then wrap waterproof tape and apply waterproof coating; Exposed firmware needs to be equipped with waterproof gaskets, and the contact between the gasket and the board should be sealed with sealant to prevent rainwater from seeping into the gaps of the firmware.
4、 Standardized construction technology
Strictly follow the construction process to ensure the quality of waterproofing.
1. Apply primer: Apply a layer of waterproof primer evenly on the surface of the processed color steel plate to enhance the adhesion between the main material and the base layer. Wait for the primer to dry (about 4-6 hours) before proceeding to the next step.
2. Laying waterproof tape: Lay the tape flat according to the direction of the joint, compact it with a scraper, and exhaust the air under the tape to avoid bubbles affecting the waterproof effect.
3. Apply waterproof coating: Use the “cross cross method” to apply waterproof coating, that is, first apply the first coat in one direction, wait for it to dry (about 6-8 hours), and then apply the second coat in the vertical direction, with a coating thickness controlled at 1.5-2 millimeters, to ensure that the coating is uniform and free of omissions.
5、 Post maintenance and inspection
Regular maintenance can extend the waterproof life and promptly address potential leakage hazards.
Daily inspection: Focus on inspecting the board joints, nodes, and waterproof coating layer before and after the rainy season, check for cracks, bulges, delamination, and other issues, and promptly repair any hidden dangers.
• Cleaning and maintenance: Regularly clean the fallen leaves and debris on the roof and in the gutter to prevent blockage of the drain and water accumulation, which can accelerate the aging of waterproof materials and reduce waterproof performance.
• Repair treatment: If there is local leakage, first remove the old waterproof layer in the damaged area, reprocess the base layer, and then repair the waterproofing according to the original construction process to ensure that the repaired area is tightly integrated with the original waterproof layer.
