The core of storing color steel coils is moisture-proof, scratch resistant, corrosion-resistant, and deformation resistant. It is implemented according to the “environmental control+stacking standards+protective measures”, and the specific methods are as follows:
1. Choose the right storage environment (basic key)
Prioritize storing in a dry and ventilated indoor warehouse, avoiding outdoor exposure to sunlight and rain (UV and rain can accelerate coating aging and substrate rusting);
The warehouse should be kept away from damp areas such as basements and water accumulation areas. The ground should be elevated and treated with moisture-proof measures (such as laying wooden boards/sleepers) to maintain a relative humidity of ≤ 65% indoors;
Stay away from oil stains, acidic and alkaline substances (such as chemical raw materials, paint), and prevent pollutants from corroding coatings.
2. Standardize the stacking method (anti deformation+anti moisture)
When stacking, use dedicated brackets/sleepers to pad at the bottom, with a height of ≥ 10cm above the ground, to avoid direct contact of the roll material with the ground (to prevent moisture infiltration from the ground);
Stacking rolls of the same specification and batch, with a height not exceeding 3 layers (to avoid deformation of the rolls and adhesion of the coating caused by heavy pressure);
The axis of the coil should be placed horizontally, and vertical or inclined placement is prohibited (to prevent rolling and damage, and to avoid uneven local stress);
Separate the stacking of rolls with different coatings and colors to avoid coating friction, color fading, or adhesion.
3. Take protective measures (scratch and corrosion prevention)
The surface of the roll material is completely wrapped with original waterproof cloth/PE film, and both ends are sealed with waterproof plugs to prevent rainwater and dust from entering;
When handling and stacking, avoid touching with sharp tools, and operators should wear gloves to prevent scratching the coating;
When storing temporarily outdoors, a rainproof and sunshade should be built, with a bottom height of ≥ 20cm, covered with double-layer waterproof cloth (outer layer rainproof, inner layer friction proof), and stored for no more than 15 days.
4. Pay attention to storage details (extend shelf life)
Before storage, check the surface of the coil material. If there are slight stains, wipe them with a neutral cleaning agent in a timely manner and dry them to avoid storage with dirt;
Regularly ventilate and exchange air in the warehouse (especially during the rainy season) to prevent condensation from forming water droplets on the surface of the rolls;
Use according to the principle of “first in, first out” and avoid long-term storage (it is recommended not to exceed 6 months, as prolonged storage can lead to a decrease in coating adhesion).
