To achieve good waterproof effect, color steel plates need to be comprehensively treated from multiple aspects such as material selection, structural design, and construction technology. The following are specific implementation methods:

Quality control of sheet metal: Select color steel plates with uniform surface coating and appropriate substrate thickness. The coating of high-quality sheet metal (such as galvanized layer) can enhance corrosion resistance and reduce leakage hazards caused by rusting of the sheet metal. For example, color steel plates with a substrate thickness between 0.5-0.8mm and a zinc coating of not less than 180g/m ² have better resistance to deformation and rust.

• Supporting waterproof materials: matched with high-performance waterproof rolls (such as TPO, SBS modified asphalt rolls), waterproof coatings (polyurethane, acrylic), and sealants (silicone sealant, polyurethane sealant), etc. These materials need to have good weather resistance, flexibility, and adhesion, and be able to adapt to the thermal expansion and contraction of color steel plates.

If there are unevenness or debris on the base layer, it will affect the adhesion of the color steel plate, form gaps, and cause water leakage. You can first use cement mortar to level it, and then use a broom and hair dryer to clean the surface dust and debris.

The horizontal overlap should cover a wave peak, with an overlap length of not less than 100mm, and be fixed with self tapping screws. When overlapping vertically, the upper and lower plates should be installed with staggered seams to avoid water leakage from straight seams.

Careful sealing treatment: All joints, screw holes, through wall pipes, and other parts must be sealed with sealant. Before applying, it is necessary to clean the surface oil and dust to ensure that the sealant is firmly bonded to the substrate. For example, apply a circle of sealant with a diameter of about 50mm around the screw hole, then tighten the screw, and finally apply another layer of sealant on the screw cap.

Post maintenance is essential

Regular inspection: Every six months to one year, conduct a comprehensive inspection of the color steel plate roof, focusing on checking whether there are sealant cracks, plate deformation, rust, and other conditions at the joints and nodes. Promptly address any issues, such as applying sealant or replacing damaged boards.

• Cleaning and maintenance: Timely clean up fallen leaves, dust, snow and other debris on the roof to avoid the accumulation of debris causing poor drainage. When cleaning, avoid using sharp tools to avoid scratching the surface coating of the color steel plate.
