Application areas of composite geomembranes

News

Composite geomembranes are a member of the geosynthetic materials family, widely used in highways, railways, water conservancy, large-scale construction, power plant ash dam construction, non-ferrous metal tailings treatment, environmental protection projects, and soil and water conservation.

Composite geomembranes are available in single-layer geotextile and double-layer geotextile configurations, with widths ranging from 4-6 meters and weights from 200-1500 g/m². They possess high tensile strength, tear resistance, and puncture resistance, exhibiting high strength, good elongation, large deformation modulus, acid and alkali resistance, corrosion resistance, aging resistance, and excellent seepage prevention. They can meet the needs of water conservancy, municipal engineering, construction, transportation, subway, and tunnel projects for seepage prevention, isolation, reinforcement, and crack prevention. Due to the use of high-polymer materials and the addition of anti-aging agents in the production process, they can be used in unconventional temperature environments. They are commonly used for seepage prevention in dams and drainage ditches, as well as for pollution control in waste disposal sites. Functions: seepage prevention and isolation. Applications: earthwork dams, rockfill dams, masonry dams and compacted concrete dams; horizontal seepage prevention lining in front of dikes and dams, vertical seepage prevention layer in foundations; tailings dams, sewage reservoir dam bodies and reservoir areas; construction cofferdams; the widespread application of composite geomembranes in channels and storage ponds also plays a role in protecting the ecological environment.

Composite geomembranes are mainly used in five major areas:

1. Environmental protection and sanitation: Effectively solves the problem of urban solid waste pollution, preventing continuous environmental pollution.

2. Water conservancy projects: Used for dam foundation reinforcement, drainage boards for groundwater diversion, pressure reduction, etc.

3. Municipal construction projects: Soft soil foundation reinforcement and drainage, and various seepage prevention projects.

4. Petrochemical systems: Seepage prevention in chemical wastewater ponds, oil refinery wastewater ponds, electroplating pickling tanks, pipeline linings, etc.

5. Road traffic facilities: Seepage prevention and diversion reinforcement under ballast, seepage prevention and reinforcement of culverts and tunnels (groundwater drainage and electrical circuit moisture protection).
